Rick Chern, Media Director
Rick leads our church’s media and technology ministries as a part-time volunteer. Through the week, Citgo Petroleum Company’s systems are kept sharp with Rick as one of their most valued lead managers. On the weekends, he enjoys his bonding time with his son Jacob, who regularly participates in Special Olympics events. Rick is also known to Houston Chronicle readers in a June 2014 sports article as “side kick” to Jacob who often supports his favorite baseball team by wearing his superman costume to Astros games. From audio to visual, CCB database to systems innovation and maintenance–Rick is our guy and we are truly grateful for his important ministry as he leads our media team.
Amy Messina, Director of Children’s Ministries
Amy Messina holds a B.S. in Education from Liberty University, as well as a Texas teaching certificate (EC-6 Generalist). Early childhood is her passion, and her past work experience reflects this passion. She has over thirteen years of experience working with young children in different capacities, including teaching kindergarten, preschool, early childhood music/fitness, and elementary music. Additionally, she has been a professional nanny/home-school teacher for two different families, including one with special needs. Before teaching and nannying, Amy worked numerous years in a church nursery, as well as in YMCA summer camps. She is a trained musician (piano and voice), and she loves to incorporate music into the general classroom. Amy is well-versed in developmentally-appropriate practices and activities, and her classroom and teaching reflects this knowledge. Furthermore, she is known for her calm, nurturing, musical, and extremely patient personality. She has a natural gift of relating to, teaching, and encouraging young children, and it is her passion. When Amy is away from the church, she enjoys spending time with her loving husband and two young children. Amy is passionate about sharing the love of Christ with children each week and considers it a blessing to be part of such a vital ministry at First United Methodist Church of Fulshear.

Janis Hill, Director of Administration
Our devoted Administrative Assistant, Janis, has been a resident of the Fulshear area for twenty-seven years, attended our church for twenty-six years, and worked for the church for seventeen years. If you want to know something about the church, asking Janis is a pretty good idea. Also, if you want to know something about Elvis Presley, Janis probably has the answer. Not only does Janis love her job at the church, but she enjoys it too! Over the years, she says her job has made her stronger in all aspects of her life and has shown her she can do a lot more than she thought she could.
Janis is blessed with a family of three daughters, two of which are twins and four grandchildren. She, her husband and mother live in Simonton.
